EMS | FARMWORKS

 

The Effluent Monitoring System is a smart system designed to utilise your nutrient irrigating resource, while at the same time protect your assets and environment.

 

Known as EMS, this system can be adapted to most travelling irrigator systems, new or old. It has a huge number of features that fit around any existing effluent dispersal system, and this ensures that your effluent is making its way out into your farm unit in the most efficient and safe method possible.

 

The primary purposes of this product are to:

 

  • Ensure that the application of any effluent is within an acceptable zone, or equally as importantly, not dispersing where regulations prohibit.
  • Monitor that the irrigator is moving correctly (and by default that the hose is attached, and above the minimum speed).
  • Record the location of dispersals into the farm environment, and keep track of your nutrients applied*.
  • Switch the system off (at the pump) and alert in the event of an emergency.

 

By utilising the FarmNet (wireless data network) to move all of the information around, the system is not only secure and robust but also low cost, with no ongoing monthly additional fees.

 

While there are several additional and valuable components, the heart of the system is composed of three aspects:  the Spreadshield, the Pump Controller and a Site Computer with FarmNet Coordinator.

 

The Site Computer monitors the state of the system ensuring that critical messages are transmitted when required.

 

* Requires an Effluent Nutrient Test.

 

 

Models

 

There are three versions available:

 

Bronze

 

The Bronze EMS System ensures that your Irrigator is moving.  Should the Irrigator reach the end of a run or stop for some other reason, then the system will shut down automatically.

 

Silver

 

The Silver or Standard EMS utilises both the wheel sensor and embedded GPS to provide additional functionality.

 

Through the creation of Effluent Monitoring Zones (EMZ's), your EMS is also verifying that the Irrigator is dispersing in a safe area. Additionally, the use of GPS information allows critical nutrient and traceability maps to become available through the Effluent Monitoring Service on Ag-Hub

 

Gold

 

Utilising all the features that Silver offers, the Gold system is fully integrated with Soil Monitoring & Weather Station hardware.  This allows the system to shut down automatically and alert if certain environmental conditions are not met.

 

Global Features for All Models

 

  • Heartbeat System | If the pump controller does not receive an 'all's well' message from the EMS system every three minutes (this can be changed if desired) it shuts down.
  • Secure Coverage | Your FarmNet setup prevents cross talk from other networks. Onsite installation ensures you have coverage for your system, preventing costly monthly cellular charges.
  • Shut Down & Alert | If any of the thresholds are exceeded or alarms triggered, then the system automatically shuts down and generates whatever alarms are set up.
  • Battery & Power Alert | All devices in the network are monitored for power and signal range levels.
  • Alarms | Alarms are visually displayed on the Site Computer, and additionally on the Alarm Box.
  • Dynamic Alerts | The new Alerts Module allows almost totally customisable alerts in the event of a problem.  You can give someone on site time to resolve a problem or text an alert to the Manager after a certain amount of time (or our helpdesk as an example).

System Aspects

 

  • Spreadshield | The Spreadshield is the box that is mounted on the Irrigator.  Its purpose is to monitor the movement and location of the irrigator. It is powered by rechargeable battery, and linked back to the EMS Module on the site computer by FarmNet.

  • Pump Relay | The Pump Controller fists within any existing pump installations, and is designed to operate within existing fail safes or auto on/off switches. In the event of an emergency it can switch off the pump before the problem becomes a costly one.  The Pump Controller is designed to operate within 110-400v, and needs to be installed by a registered electrician.
  • FarmNet | FarmNet is the network that the EMS works within.  It is set up as part of the EMS installation process. It has no monthly usage fees, and is normally extended by use of Solar Boosters. FarmNet requires a Site Computer to work.
  • EMS Module | The EMS Module is integrated into the FarmNet system.  Its purpose is to manage the elements of the EMS, and ensure the product is working. Additionally, the EMS is Ag-Hub enabled, which allows nutrient and application reporting through Ag-Hub.

Optional Extras & Features

 

  • Text Alerts | Alerts can be generated from an Emergency List in the event of a system emergency stop. Text Alerts requires a stable internet connection and has an annual cost.
  • Ag-Hub Effluent Monitoring | Irrigation Scheduling, Application Cover Maps & Pump Usage are available through Ag-Hub. Effluent Monitoring requires a stable internet connection, and has an annual cost.

  • AgHub Nutrient Monitoring | Nutrient Application Maps & their NPK values are a critical consideration not just for fertiliser applications, but also for ensuring that safe levels are applied. Your nutrient information is available to your fertiliser consultant. (requires Effluent Monitoring as well). Nutrient Monitoring requires a stable internet connection, and has an annual cost.

  • Soil Moisture Sensor | Our Soil Sensors monitor temperature and water holding capacity.  They can be fully integrated into the Gold EMS, or run separately.
  • Weather Station | Our integrated weather station monitors wind, rain, temperature, humidity and pressure. It can be used with the Gold EMS to help control the system or on its own as a monitoring device.
